ONLINE REGISTRATION

Online registration opens on 11th February, please check the countries page for specific closing and heat dates.

The competition will run in the following countries: United Kingdom, United States, Australia, UAE, Hong Kong, Spain, Italy, Germany and Holland.

Unless stated otherwise on the country page, all entries should be submitted via the registration form available on the website.

Chase Distillery and its distribution partners worldwide will have the right and license to use, reproduce, and publish any recipe submitted online and related images. Similarly, the right is retained to use any photography or videography of the bartenders taken during the both the National Finals and the World Final of The Chase Cup cocktail competition.

APPLICANTS

The competition is open to professional bartenders aged 18 years old or over (or 21 years and over in Dubai and the USA), currently working at a bar within the country that they register. The age limit may differ depending on the country of entry.

Applicants will be required to submit the following information;

  • Full Name
  • Age
  • Place of work (bar must stock Chase Vodka & or Chase GB Gin)
  • Which regional heat intend on competing in
  • Cocktail Name
  • Cocktail Photograph (featuring a bottle of the Chase product used)
  • Cocktail Recipe (all recipes must be expressed in ml or oz)
  • Story/rationale behind cocktail creation
  • All recipes must stipulate type of glassware, garnish, and method of preparation

Applicants should be able to speak English in order to be able to present their creation to both the judging panel and the audience that will be present at the final held at Chase Distillery during Rock the Farm Festival.

Applicants should make sure they are available on the date of the national final in their country of residence (please check the country pages), and for the final in the UK on June 3rd– 4th2019.

COCKTAIL SUBMISSION

Cocktail Brief: Showcase true sustainability within the industry, championing home-grown and made from scratch craft. It has to be original and a personal creation, think seasonal, local and sustainable.

Rules:

  • Minimum 30ml (1oz) Chase Vodka or Chase GB Gin or Chase Pink Grapefruit Gin
  • Maximum 6 Ingredients
  • Drinks can contain homemade ingredients (must send all recipes with your entry)
  • Please name your drink
  • Provide story/rationale behind cocktail inspiration that reflects your local area

JUDGING

All cocktails submitted online will be judged and evaluated by a panel of professionals, points will be awarded for:

  • Name
  • Balance
  • Taste
  • Creativity
  • Appearance
  • Description of the preparation process
  • Ease of replicability
  • Inspiration from the Chase Distillery story

N.B. A photograph of the cocktail is mandatory. Videos are welcomed and can be uploaded or provided by a shareable link.

Chase spirits are to be used in their original form (infusions of Chase spirits will not be permitted).

The entries that best represent the above characteristics will be selected to enter the qualifying rounds in their country of entry. Applicants will be contacted directly by their local Chase representative.

NATIONAL FINALS

All qualifying rounds of The Chase Cup will run worldwide from March 25th – May 10th 2019.

National Finals to take place in;

United Kingdom – London, London (M25), Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh
United States – Chicago
Australia – Melbourne
UAE – Dubai
Hong Kong
Spain – Barcelona
Italy – Milan
Germany – Berlin
Holland – Amsterdam

Competition dates for the national heats will be highlighted on the country page, including any specific rules and information relating to that country.

In the event of a change of date for a national heat due to organisational requirements, changes will be made on the country specific page and national finalists will be notified personally.

The International Wild Card (for any entries from any countries outside of the above list) will be judged based on their online entry with one winner selected to go to the global final at Rock the Farm.

FORMAT

Welcome talk from Chase host and drink on arrival.

12:30-16:30 Finalists will be asked to create their original drink (that they had submitted online)

10 minutes per competitor (including preparation and pack down time)

Evaluation based on the following criteria;

  • Name, Balance, Taste, Originality, Appearance
  • Technique
  • Presentation skills
  • Overall knowledge of the brand and products
  • Respect of the time limit

17:00 Winner announced

WORLD FINAL

The winner of each National Final will have their travel expenses to Chase Distillery covered for the World Final of The Chase Cup cocktail competition. The World Final will take place during Rock the Farm, the Festival for the Drinks Industry.

All World Finalists to be announced by May 13th 2019 and profiled by Chase Distillery and Difford’s Guide ‘People and Personalities’.

The World Final will be held at Chase Distillery, Herefordshire, HR1 3PG, United Kingdom on June 3rd from 16:00-18:00

FIRST ROUND

World finalists will be asked to create their original drink (that they had submitted online and had been successful with at their countries National Final) on stage in front of the judging panel and audience.

The order in which finalists will compete will be drawn from a hat.

  • Bonzer barware will be provided but participants are welcome to bring their own
  • A selection of glassware will be available but participants are welcome to bring their own
  • Crushed and cubed ice will be available
  • Cocktail basics like citrus, sugar syrup and bitters will all be available

Each competitor will have five minutes to set up their station with the ingredients, glasses and garnishes they will need, followed by ten minutes to create and present their cocktail.

The judges will evaluate each applicant and cocktail based on the following criteria;

  • Name, Balance, Taste, Originality, Appearance
  • Technique
  • Presentation skills
  • Overall knowledge of the brand and products
  • Respect of the time limit
  • Bonus points will be awarded for keeping the station tidy as well as cleaning and replacing equipment as you build the round

Top 3 scores will be selected to compete in the final round.

FINAL ROUND – MYSTERY BOX CHALLENGE

The Mystery Box challenge is designed to test the finalists tenacity, reactiveness and creativity.

The ingredients within the mystery box will be revealed moments before the final round.

  • The box will contain a selection of Chase Gin and Vodka accompanied by an array of fresh, seasonal produce all sourced within 12 miles of the distillery. Rock the Farm mixer partners will also supply some items.
  • Bonzer barware will be provided but participants are welcome to bring their own
  • A selection of glassware will be available
  • Crushed and cubed ice will be available
  • Cocktail basics like citrus, sugar syrup and bitters will all be available
  • The order in which finalists will compete will be drawn from a hat

THE PRIZE

The winner of The Chase Cup cocktail competition will be determined by the overall number of points achieved during the World Final.

1st Place:

  • £2500 Cash Prize, Guest Bar Tender/Ambassador at BCB Berlin 2019 or BCB Brooklyn 2020 (all expenses paid)
  • Rock The Farm 2019 Trophy
  • A year’s supply of Chase Spirits
